Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox released her music to the internet in 2012 when she released the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. She continued to upload her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. On 21st of July 2015, Omen included her in Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat It Out. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's references. Later in the year, her music was circulating throughout Dreamville. She was officially signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is one of the songs was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21 2016 she dropped her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she appeared as a guest on two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. Then on November 9 she dropped two more singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two more singles were released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. In February 2019, the music video for this song was released. The track has garnered more than three million YouTube views in just one week. As a support act she performed together with 6LACK in December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
